Was THAT abuse?

Our PE teacher,

The head of department,

A good friend of family,

Used to look down our shorts

To check we had taken off our underpants

Before gym.

Was THAT abuse?

A man I knew,

A respected member of society,

A pillar of the community,

Used to wander around the house


And nude as a Velázquez.

Was THAT abuse?

A political class I perceived,

Blamer of the poor,

Claimer of raw evolutionary truth,

Once destroyed my life

And reputation and career

In the name of a higher security.

Was THAT abuse?

And then the people who met me,

And suggested love,

And promised thrive,

And offered so much

Without showing ownership

For the bull delivered …
